SOUTHFIELD, Mich. — Four people have been charged in connection with a deadly rendezvous between a 35-year-old man and a woman he met online.



Cattamanchi Venkata Subramanya-Reddy, 35, of Troy was shot to death in front of a Southfield motel last Thursday.


Police said Subramanya-Reddy met 23-year-old Jessica Ermatinger of Canton online and arranged to met her at a Wendy’s restaurant in Southfield, near Nine Mile and Telegraph roads, early Thursday morning.


Police Chief Dr. Joseph Thomas said when the two drove over to the nearby EZ Motel on

Telegraph, when another man approached and fatally Subramanya-Reddy.


Thomas said the gunman and three other people, who were acquaintances of Ermatinger, robbed the victim before taking off.


Police said the killing was a calculated set up and arrested the four people a short time later.


Kevin Huffman, 28 of Detroit, James Randle, 35, of Detroit, Ermatinger and Lynn Coggins, 37, of Oak Park were all arraigned Saturday in 46th District Court before Magistrate Donna Posey. All four defendants were denied bond.
