Prince Michael Jackson Jr. took to the stage Sunday night with sister Paris Michael Katherine Jackson, at the Grammys and spoke in public for the first time, stunning the audience with an emotional speech about his late father.
In accepting Michael’s posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award, the reclusive 12 year-old choked up while thanking fans for their support since his dad’s death.
“Our father loved you so much because you were always there for him,” he said in a soft-spoken voice.
He also touted the goodness of his beloved dad: “Through all his songs, his message was simple: Love.”
The brief speech quickly became the most sincere and poignant moment of the evening, with every member of the audience standing and listening in awe as the shy Prince spoke.
