Detroit police are investigating a car crash on the city’s east side that killed two Kettering High School seniors and injured two others shortly after midnight, the day after graduation.

All four were 18-year-old men, Detroit Police Department spokesman John Roach said this morning.

The driver lost control of his vehicle near Harper and Van Dyke and crashed into a building, according to police and Detroit Public Schools officials. The driver and one passenger died and the other two are in temporary serious condition.

“The staff are working with counselors and the students,” DPS spokeswoman Jennifer Mrozowski said.

Roach declined to say if alcohol or speed was a factor, but added that none of the four teens were wearing seatbelts.
