The more I read about this horrendous Gulf Oil spill, my curiosity peaks regarding how is this affecting the seafood. For all of you seafood lovers like me, this isn’t good. According to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, the website posted a lengthy message that addresses individuals concern regarding whether the seafood is being contaminated from the oil spill. Good and valid question, right? It states that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration(FDA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA) are monitoring the oil spill and its potential impact on the safety of seafood harvested from the area. They stated they are in constant communication with both agencies and we should continue to check back for updates.
I don’t know how that makes you feel but I don’t like how it sounds. CNN, Fox News and every local and national station are reporting a daily story on the slippery facts. Fisherman and cleanup crews are getting sick, having nose bleeds and headaches, feeling nauseous and telling tales of the pollution due to the oil spill. This is clearly proof that we are not getting the full details of what really is happening.
