Magic Johnson shocked the world Tuesday when he announced that he will be stepping down from his position as Laker’s President of Basketball Operations. Johnson has held the position for two years and expressed his feelings about his departure.
Before the Lakers took on the Trailblazers, Magic spoke to the media to make his announcement. Johnson stated, “It’s a difficult decision. I cried before I came here,” However, he informed viewers and fans that his exit is placing him in a much happier state. He also mentions loving the mentoring side of his position more than the front office side.
After, Johnson took to twitter to thank the Lakers organization including the team’s owner, Jeanie Buss who reportedly had no knowledge of Johnson’s exit plans. However, prior to Johnson’s tweet, Buss sent out a tweet showing his love and appreciation for Magic.
