Proposal 1: Marijuana legalization passes Michigan
The proposal to legalize marijuana for adult recreational use passes in Michigan.
Michigan is the first state in the Midwest to approve legal weed.
Michigan will become the 10th state in the nation to legalize marijuana for recreational use, joining California, Oregon,Washington, Alaska, Colorado, Nevada,Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine and Washington, D.C. A total of 30 states, including Michigan have legalized marijuana for medical use.
The proposal will not take effect until 10 days after the election is certified by the state Board of Canvassers, which should happen by early December.
