One of the Novi jewelry store robbery suspects turned himself in to Detroit police Monday night then tried to escape, biting officers then kicking out two windows in a police car, authorities said.
The Detroit man surrendered about 10 p.m. at the 6th Detroit Police Precinct in connection with the smash-and-grab robbery Saturday at Twelve Oaks Mall. But when Novi officers arrived to transport him, he tried to run away, said Novi police Sgt. Scott Baetens.
The man resisted, and the two officers as well as the suspect had minor injuries, police said.
“He had some minor abrasions and a cut to his left arm, and our officers had minor abrasions — one officer was bitten,” Baetens said.
