Hillary Clinton is determined to get the black vote by any means necessary. The Democratic presidential candidate has recently added a new face to her campaign team. Denise Horn has been hired as Hillary’s Director of Black Media.

Horn, who is an alumna of Howard University, has an extensive background in politics. She was part of Obama’s reelection campaign in 2012 and is currently an assistant press secretary at the Department of Education. In this capacity, she manages correspondences and media outreach to historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs), a demographic that Clinton is trying her hardest to engage.

As a former employe of Facebook, Horn has a tech background that makes her well equipped for her new position. She also holds a Master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago.

Horn will begin her new position this month. According to Buzzfeed, apart of her job responsibilities will also include “engaging spiritual leaders and other grassroots organizers, as well as amplify efforts in the early primary and Super Tuesday states.”

Clinton’s competitor for the Democratic nomination, Bernie Sanders has already made impressive inroads with millennials and the black community. The Vermont senator, who recently won over New Hampshire in the primaries has been vocal on various issues concerning the black community which include him saying police brutality victim, Sandra Bland would still be alive if she were a white woman.

Clinton has also met with leaders of the Black Lives Matter movement as well as the mothers of African American police brutality victims. The Congressional Black Caucus PAC has most recently announced their endorsement of Clinton.

Congrats Denise!
