A Reddit user brought this to the public’s attention by uploading an image of it online. However, the graffiti on the star located at 6801 Hollywood Boulevard, was quickly removed on Saturday morning.
Trump isn’t the only celebrity to have their star vandalized in the past year.
Last September someone sprayed a big yellow “X” over Bill Cosby’s star and in December someone wrote “rapist” across it, the Wrap noted. Yet, aspiring actor Austin Franklin believes that Cosby’s star doesn’t receive the same type of contempt that Trump’s does. He told The Wrap, “he often sees people stomping or pretending to defecate on the star.”
While this type of harassment and defacement can never be justified or defended, Trump, the Republican Presidential frontrunner, has heavily criticized for using racism, xenophobia and even sexism to incite his base.
Since the beginning of his presidential campaign, he has boasted some seriously polarizing stances including proposing policies of banning Muslims to enter the country, sending Latino immigrants back to their native counties because they are “criminals” and “rapists” and even condoning physical violence against protesters of color at his rallies.
She wrote, “I think [Trump] is acting like another Hitler by inciting racism…During his U.S. presidential campaign he has suggested the ‘total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States,’ as well as pledging to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico to keep illegal immigrants out.”
Trump’s camp has yet to release a statement about the defacing of his star.
