Safety James Ihedigbo may be new to the city of Detroit, after spending most his NFL career in New York, New England and Baltmore. However, in the seven months that Ihedigbo has been here, he has already take the time to embrace all Lions fan and the people of Detroit as a whole.
One of the ways that Ihedigbo is doing that, is by having fans enter a contest called “Diggz Cleats Contest” where each contestant must design and post a picture of their best fan created Diggz Lions poster to Instagram or Twitter with the hashtags #LionsFanPoster and #DiggzCleatsContest. The winner will receive a pair of game worn cleats that have been worn and signed by Ihedigbo, allowing him to share some of his priceless memorabilia with his supportive fans.
“I do this every year during football season.” Ihedigbo said. “It’s just something that I have done over the years to interact my fans, which allows them to win cool stuff. You have to remember that a lot of times, people don’t get to get memorabilia like this unless they buy it. So it’s fun and cool that they can interact with me and win some cool stuff in the process”
As Ihedigbo mentioned, this is something he has done this contest for years. Every fan who has won the contest has taken great pride in the cleats that they receive from Iheidgbo.
In fact, one fan, who won the contest some time last year, actually put his cleats in a state-of-the art glass case.
According to Ihedigbo, the competition only continues to get better each and every year, as fans continue to take the time to make some amazing posters using their great graphic design skills.
“It’s cool when people put their own spin on it and take their time to get real creative with it.” Ihedigbo replied. “It makes it that much harder for me to decide. So the more people who participate in it, the better it is.
For this week’s contest, Ihedigbo is already seeing some great poster designs. One graphic design artist by the name of John Ninch, has already posted his great design, even adding the caption, “are you not entertained?”
So if your interested in participating in Ihedigbo’s “Diggz Cleat Contest” where the winner will receive a pair of game worn cleats that have been worn and signed by Ihedigbo. Be sure to post a picture of your best fan created Diggz Lions poster to Instagram or Twitter with the hashtags #LionsFanPoster and #DiggzCleatsContest by 10/6/14.
“The prizes are cool and every time we do it, we switch up the task.” Iheidgo said. “So if you don’t win this time, there is always a chance for you to win the next time.”
