In an effort to building a stronger presence in our communities, 105.9 Kiss is honored to be apart of the “5th Annual Back to School with the HistoryMakers” program. The goal of the program is to build upon the success of last year by bringing African American leaders into schools to see things firsthand and speak to and hopefully motivate students directly! Also, to raise awareness of the achievements of accomplished African Americans in our communities as well as the self-esteem and career options of our youth.
The Back to School with the HistoryMakers Program is Friday, September 26th, 2014. The theme of the day is “COMMIT”. Black leaders will recount their own school experiences and the struggles that they encountered on their paths to success. They will also encourage students to take a pledge to COMMIT to their education.
Back to School with the HistoryMakers program will take place in 200 schools in 30 states and 61 cities across the U.S., including 5 schools in the Detroit area.
Back To School With The HistoryMakers, a brain child of Julieanna Richardson, Founder & Executive Director of The ‘HistoryMakers’ which is the nation’s largest African American video oral history archive, was developed to help combat this ongoing crisis.
