Summertime is supposed to be synonymous with big, kid-friendly blockbusters. But has the “kid-friendly” part of the equation all but disappeared?

Some films that are being pegged as “kid movies” this summer are “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” and “Guardians of the Galaxy.” The problem? All three movies have a good amount of violent behavior incorporated into the plot. “Transformers” and “Guardians” even have a PG-13 rating (“TMNT” isn’t yet rated.)

What do you think? Are these “kid movies” even appropriate for kids, what with all the violence and savagery in them?

Should kids be exposed to more appropriate films like “Sister Act,” “The Lion King” and “Back to the Future” to name a few?

What do you think, are movies for kids getting to be inappropriate?
