The Ohio State Buckeyes have gained a new commitment in the 2015 recruiting class and it comes from Detroit Cass Tech (Mich.) 2015 offensive/defensive lineman Joshua Alabi, who reportedly tweeted his commitment in between reps at the Buckeyes’ Friday Night Lights camp.

Alabi chose Ohio State over Michigan State, Tennessee, Miami, Wisconsin, Michigan and others, who he held offers from. While some may be a little shocked that he chose to commit before his senior season, Alabi told 247sports.com committing to Ohio State feels like the right thing.
“Just felt like the right thing, felt like family,” Alabi told 247Sports.
If you know anything about Ohio State, you know that the Buckeyes are no strangers to recruiting Cass Tech Technicians or in the city of Detroit for that matter. Ohio State landed top corner-back Damon Webb in the 2014 class from the Technicians and have quickly become a major player in the Detroit-area high school.
Just like when the Buckeyes gained a commitment from Webb, this is obviously a great pick-up for the Buckeyes.
According to 247Sports Composite ranking, Alabi is the 539th best player in the 2015 class, the 63rd ranked offensive tackle and the eighth best player out of the state of Michigan.
At 6-foot-5 and 270-pounds, Alabi is true lineman, who can line up on either side of the ball. Although some scouts project that he could play at offensive tackle or guard, there are some who believe that he will most likely line up on the defensive side of the ball for the Buckeyes, as either a defensive tackle or a defensive end.
Regardless of where he lines up, there is no doubt in my mind that Alabi will succeed. With his great height and overall size, Alabi is an absolute physical monster, making him almost un-blockable on the defensive side of the ball and un-moveable on the offensive side of the ball. If that’s not enough, he is also a naturally quick lineman who has the good strength, explosiveness and overall field awareness.
Overall, I would call this a great pick-up for the Buckeyes and knowing head coach Urban Meyer, he will probably add a few more Detroit products to his 2015 class before all is said and done.
