The Children's Literacy Center of Colorado Springs has tutoring sites from Denver to Pueblo to help improve kids' reading ability. The Midtown Detroit Kumon Center, a Detroit institution for over 15 years is making a bold new move to a new location.

“We’ve been in Midtown since our inception, but this is the first time that we’re going to a location all our own,” said JoAnne Wolff, the director.

The new location is 2,239 square feet, and is unique to the Kumon design.  Although it has the traditional classroom feel it looks like a loft, with 15 foot ceilings, and exposed bricks, and vents.

But what is most important about our move is that we’re still able to offer the Kumon Math and Reading Program to Detroit school children.  Kumon is the world’s largest after school math and reading program.  It is in over 42 countries.  So for many children this is the first time their education is measured by international standards.

We begin with a placement test, which tells us where a student’s strengths and weaknesses are, and we build from there. Students come into the center 2 to 3 times a week, and have homework to complete everyday.

This summer we’re offering a lot of promotions to keep students academically active and to prepare them for the fall.  In July we’re offering fee discounts. In August for our grand opening we’ll have two subjects’ discounts.

We always like to keep our students and their parents engaged.   Currently there is a contest regarding our new location.  The family that discovers our new wins a free month of Kumon.

The clues are available in our monthly newsletters.  Anyone interested in entering the contest can view our newsletter online at http://www.kumon.com/midtown. For more information call, 313.873.7730
