Hey single guys, is it true? Do you really only wash your sheets four times a year? That’s what a study finds in the UK. They also show that single women change their sheets every two weeks. A drastic difference! The average person spends a third of their life sleeping, so maybe we should think more about the beds we lay in.

Then again, the researchers of this study say that as gross as it sounds, constantly clean sheets are not too mandatory. MSN reports, “while washing sheets removes dust mites and other allergens, it isn’t a serious health concern.”

Still though, only four times in a whole year? That might be taking things too far.

MSN continues:

“If you find yourself wheezing or sniffling in bed or developing a skin irritation, Associate Professor Tovey said you probably need to alter your sleep hygiene conditions.

He said the more serious risk is probably to your reputation.

“Would you want to be invited into a bed of somebody who hadn’t washed it for months?” he asked.

“I think it’s more of an aesthetic thing than a health thing.”

Dr Maree Barnes, from the Sleep Health Foundation, said dirty sheets are unlikely to impact your sleep quality if you’re not particularly fussed about personal hygiene.

“Everybody has different needs for getting a good night’s sleep,” she said.

What do you think? Are clean sheets very important, or is it okay that so many single men rarely wash theirs?
