A woman visiting the University of Michigan’s campus narrowly escaped being raped as she walked near south university early Sunday morning. The woman told police a man appeared and pushed her from behind, he told her to be quiet and then attempted to remove her pants.

The man fled on foot when other walkers approached and spooked him. The attack happened at the southeast corner of Diag at West Hall arch.

The suspect is described as a black male, 35-years-old, around 6-foot tall with a thin build and a dark complexion.

The attacker was wearing a black baseball cap, blue sweatshirt, jeans and carrying a backpack.
