Actor Andy Griffith, of the legendary “The Andy Griffith Show,” has died just over a month after his 86th birthday at his home in North Carolina.

Best known for his role as sheriff on “The Andy Griffith Show” running from 1960-1968; he can also be seen in “Matlock” which ran from 1986- 1995.

Other roles include appearances in “Waitress,” “Gramps,” “A Face in the Crowd,” and many more.

Beyond acting, Griffith was also a platinum selling artist and Grammy award winner for his southern, gospel music. He’s also a member of the Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame, the Christian Music Hall of Fame, and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
