LANSING, Mich. –

Spring is here, and Michigan’s state parks are preparing to kick off a series of educational and recreational programs over the coming months.

The idea is to provide state residents with an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the park system and have a little fun along the way.

Programs include an introduction to horses at the Brighton Recreation Area in Livingston County on Saturday, an Easter egg hunt at Maybury State Park in Wayne County on April 7 and the “Why I Run 5K” race at the Ionia Recreation Area in Ionia County on April 22.
