The ABC Channel announced that its Extreme Makeover : Home Edition will end on January 13, 2012. The ongoing ninth season marks the final season of the show in its history, reports US Magazine. However, ABC will broadcast special episodes after the end of the show.

According to other sources, the show, after its introduction in 2003, gathered as many as 15.8 million views for each episode.

Designed by Michael Moloney, the show rebuilt homes in all 50 states in the United States.

The show also gathered much popularity after high-profile personalities were featured that include the first lady, Michelle Obama and celebrity Kim Kardashain.

Although it may appear that the host of Extreme Makeover : Home Edition has just lost his job, it isn’t necessarily so. According to Hollywood Reporter, host Ty Pennington will present an upcoming health and lifestyle series, The Revolution, which will go on air this January 2012.
