DETROIT (WXYZ) – Detroit Mayor Dave Bing’s Chief of Staff and Chief Communications Officer have both resigned.

The Mayor held a news conference at 2:00 p.m. Friday to address the major staffing changes. In recent days, his communications chief, Karen Dumas has come under fire after a lawsuit filed by Rochelle Collins, the former executive assistant to Bing.

During the news conference, Mayor Bing also announced that his Chief of Staff, Shannon Holmes, also submitted her resignation. He said that he did not ask her to resign. Holmes says she is pursuing other career opportunities.

Bing says he has accepted the resignations of both Dumas and Holmes. Karen Dumas’ resignation is immediate.

Mayor Bing says Holmes will be with him for two more weeks. She will be replaced by Bing’s longtime friend and colleague Kirk Lewis.
