The cables also note that another of Qaddafi’s sons held a similarly lavish New Year’s party in 2010, paying singers Beyonce and Usher an undisclosed amount for their performances.
After New Year’s Day 2009, Western media reported that Seif al-Islam el-Qaddafi, a son of the Libyan leader Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi, had paid Mariah Carey $1 million to sing just four songs at a bash on the Caribbean island of St. Barts.
Muatassim had repeated his St. Barts New Year’s fest, this time hiring the pop singers Beyoncé and Usher.
