A roving group of fast-food bandits hit a St. Clair Shores McDonald’s early today, the latest in a series of late-night heists across metro Detroit.

It’s going to be the same group that hit Eastpointe, they hit a White Castle in Roseville, Fraser, Southfield, Clinton Township,” St. Clair Shores Police Detective Sgt. Dave Centala said today. “So we’re going to be making calls to all those departments, too.”

On Friday, two armed men robbed the White Castle restaurant at 11 Mile and Gratiot in Roseville, jumping over the counter at 6:15 a.m. They forced the manager to open the safe and also stole purses from employees. They were last seen running south on Rosewood Street.

The drive-through window of the McDonald’s on Harper just north of 13 Mile was open at 3:30 a.m. today when the robbers crashed through the glass in the lobby. They tied up the employees and made off with cash from the store, Centala said. No one was physically harmed, though.
