AMBER Alert on for missing baby
An AMBER Alert has been issued for a 10-month-old Roseville baby, taken from her great-grandmother Wednesday night.
Rylee Alexann Folan is believed to be with her mother, Samantha Lynn Folan, and mother’s boyfriend, Ryan Frederick, who could be headed to North Carolina, Roseville Police Deputy Chief James Berlin said in a statement. Investigators have been told the couple is addicted to illegal narcotics and believe Rylee is in severe danger, Berlin said.
The baby’s great-grandmother has custody of the child, who was taken from her home near Frazho and Gratiot at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. During a visit, Samantha Folan fled the home with the girl when the baby’s great-grandmother left the room momentarily, police said.
Witnesses saw Samantha Folan meet up with Frederick outside the home leave with Rylee.
Police do not know the type of vehicle the couple used to flee.
Her great-grandmother has had custody of the baby after courts terminated parental rights of the girl’s biological mother, according to police.
An AMBER Alert initially had not been issued because parental kidnapping don’t meet the criteria required for the nationwide alert system, Lt. Dan Davis said from Michigan State Police headquarters in Lansing this morning. Once MSP investigators learned parental rights had been terminated by the courts, an AMBER Alert was issued.
