A US man accused of raping his five daughters was reportedly trying to keep his bloodline intact.
Aswad Ayinde, 51, allegedly impregnated three of his daughters because he believed his bloodline was the only one that would survive an impending apocalypse.
Mr Ayinde, also known as Eric or Charles McGill, was described by authorities as a “blueblood” with a Messiah complex attempting to keep his bloodline pure, the NY Daily News reported.
“He (Mr Ayinde) said the world was going to end, and it was just going to be him and his offspring and that he was chosen,” his ex-wife, Beverly, testified at a recent hearing.
The witnesses’ statements describe a depraved parent,” prosecutor Joseph Del Russo said.
Two of the offspring produced by the alleged attacks died, while some of the surviving children suffer health problems.
Some of the babies were delivered at home, and none of the children obtained birth certificates.
Mr Ayinde is also accused of beating his children with boards and kicking them with a steel-capped boot to keep them from speaking of the atrocities being commited.
Many of the alleged rapes occurred when he was living in an abandoned New Jersey funeral home with his family.
Mr Ayinde forced his family to live in a broken-down part of the building while he lived in a room he renovated for himself, reports said.
Beverly Ayinde, who had nine children with her husband, said: “He was having regular relationships with all the girls. I wasn’t fighting back. I was afraid to fight back.
“I was afraid to ever accuse him of being demented or being a paedophile. I knew the word, but I wouldn’t dare use it because it would result in a beating.”
Mr Ayinde evaded authorities by moving from town to town between 1985 and 2002 before being arrested in 2006.
He will face separate trials for each of the daughters he allegedly raped, beginning next month
