JobFairGiant.com Oakland will be hosting the “Empowering Michigan Career Expo: in Oakland County Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Troy.

Local companies will be present and ready to interview prospective employees with several ready to hire on-site.

Some of the companies that are planning to hire on-site include 1-800-Hanson, Convergys, Auto Owners Insurance Group, E.L. Hollingsworth & Co., Metro Imaging, Hope Network, Gonzalez Contract Services and Toshiba Business Solutions, among others.

Job Seekers will also have an opportunity to meet with representatives from the Unemployment Insurance Agency and ask basic questions about unemployment and the extensions that are available.

JobFairGiant encourages job seekers to dress for success when visiting the Job Expo.

Men are recommended to wear dress slacks, a dress shirt and tie and avoid wearing gym shoes or blue jeans.

They recommend that women also dress professionally, perhaps in dress slacks, a single-color blouse and mid- to low heels.

JobFairGiant said that employers have become overwhelmed by job seekers who attend job fairs wearing shorts, T-shirts, gym shoes and don’t bring updated resumes

Job seekers are strongly recommended to bring many copies of their up-to-date resume in proper format and be ready to network.

“Don’t be afraid to utilize job coaches and resume writers. They can help boost interview results by 100 percent,” said Caree Eason, community outreach director at JobFairGiant.com.

The Empowering Michigan Career Expo event is free to the public.

The Job Fair will take place at the Holiday Inn Hotel at 2537 Rochester Court, Troy, Mich.
