WOMEN TEAM UP TO TACKLE BREAST CANCER WITH ‘KICK-OFF FOR A CAUSE’

In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, entrepreneurs and sports enthusiasts Sandra Ware and Erica Banks will team up to host “Kick-off for a Cause” on Monday, October 22 from 5 p.m.- midnight at the Roberts Riverwalk Hotel, 1000 River Place in Detroit. The event, benefiting the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, will bring together philanthropists and football fans for the ultimate Monday Night Football viewing experience, giveaways, silent auction and more.

“We are excited to support the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute because of their longstanding commitment to women’s health,” says Ware, president of Avail Services, Inc. and Banks, director of communications, Bankable Marketing Strategies. “Because breast cancer affects women and men, we wanted to create a unique and exciting event to bring them together to draw attention to the disease.”

Hundreds of metro Detroiters are expected to attend the fundraiser to watch the Detroit Lions take on the Chicago Bears. Game time is 8:30 p.m. A complimentary tailgate buffet takes place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $15, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.

“We are very appreciative of the efforts by Avail Services and Bankable Marketing Strategies to raise funds for the Karmanos Cancer Institute,” said Nick Karmanos, senior vice president of Institutional Relations at Karmanos. “It’s heartening whenever members of the community take the initiative to support our life-saving services. We thank Sandra, Erica and participants of Kick-Off for a Cause for their generosity.”

Kick-off for a Cause is a monthly social series benefiting charitable organizations in Detroit. Partners include: Roberts Riverwalk Hotel and Residences, Ambassador Magazine, TR3 Studios, StreetVision.com and Plush Apparel.
