New Edition released their debut album Candy Girl in 1983, which spawned three number one hits and solidified them as a teen pop phenomenon. Over the years, New Edition has released 10 albums and sold over 40 million records worldwide. Their long list of hits includes ’Candy Girl”, ’Cool It Now”, ’Mr. Telephone Man”, and ’If It Isn’t Love”. Cementing their status as a supergroup, Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant all branched out with massively successful solo careers while Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe formed one of the most iconic hip hop groups of the 90’s, Bell Biv DeVoe. The last time the lineup of New Edition included all six members was for the 1996 release of the album ’Home Agai which debuted at number one.

DETROIT — The Word Network presents Grammy-winner Kirk Franklin for one night only, Wednesday, Nov. 23, at Detroit’s Greater Grace Temple.

 
Host of BET’s “Sunday Best,” Franklin comes to Detroit for a stop on his “Fearless Fall Tour” for one night only for a Thanksgiving Eve Show.
 

The performance will be at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, Nov. 23, at Greater Grace Temple, 23500 W. Seven Mile Road, Detroit. Tickets range from $25-$50 are on sale at Ticketmaster. Franklin will perform songs from his “Hello Fear” album, a project that deals with how we are living and surviving in times of great uncertainty in all aspects of our lives. The Billboard No. 1 hit, “I Smile” will also be among the songs Franklin will perform.

The “Fearless Fall Tour,” sponsored in part by the American Heart Association, is part of a 15-state tour that brings the Gospel Legend to the Motor City for a rare appearance in one of Detroit’s most intimate venues. Franklin and the American Heart Association have partnered once again in an effort to educate the African American Community about the dangers of heart attacks and strokes, a leading killer amongst African Americans.

Also appearing with Kirk Franklin will be special guests Amber Bullock, Isaac Carree along with Deon Kipping & Jason Nelson.
