Jurors: Race Played Role In Mistrial

Detroit CorruptionAfter six days of deliberation, the jury could not come to a unanimous decision. Not much movement in the deliberation process was seen until shortly after 9 a.m., when the jurors sent U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn a note and Riddle was in a meeting with his attorneys. At about 11:30 a.m., Cohn said the jurors had irreconcilable differences before declaring the mistrial and dismissing the jury.


A mistrial means there was a fundamental error in the process and the trial must start again from the selection of the jury.
