PicsArt_1406516505088It was a busy weekend for a lot of Michigan’s top high school football players. It all started on Friday evening, when Detroit Cass Tech 2015 lineman Joshua Alabi, committed to Ohio State. After that, Michigan gained a big time commitment from 4-star Saginaw Heritage athlete Brian Cole, which was followed by Orchard Lake St. Marys 2016 LB Daelin Hayes committing to USC. If that’s not enough, Southfield 2016 running back Matt Falcon and Cass Tech 2016 corner-back LaVert Hill also earned new offers.

Well I’m here to tell you that the excitement didn’t stop there, after the action on Friday and Saturday, we experienced even more action on Sunday.

Cass Tech 2016 lineman Michael Onwenu earns a well deserved from the Wolverines

To start off the action on Sunday, Detroit Cass Tech 2016 offensive/defensive lineman Michael Onwenu, received a well deserved offer from the Michigan Wolverines. According to reports, the offer was extended during the Wolverines BBQ recruiting event on Sunday and from the reaction of Onwenu, he couldn’t be more excited.

“My reaction was ‘wow Michigan finally offered me.’” Onwenu told Evan Paputa of TheDZone.net. “He [Hoke] offered me as defense. Defensive nose.”

One of the things Onwenu likes about Michigan is their academic programs. He is not sure of what career he wants to pursue, but definitely likes Michigan’s academic potential.

“Well besides football I like that they have a wide variety of studies to go into.”

As I said above, this is obviously a very deserving offer. Onwenu already holds offers from Ohio State, NC State, Miami (FL.) and Illinois and his latest offer from Michigan, only enhances his already impressive offer list. If you’re wondering, if he lives up to the hype of his offer list, trust me he does.

At 6-foot-3 and 320 pounds, Onwenu plays with a lot of movement and ability for someone his size will. Last season, Onwenu played right tackle and defensive tackle and he has been a dominating force all off-season long. Back in June, he was the dominant offensive lineman at the Ohio Nike Football Training Camp earning MVP Honors. He followed that up with a great performance at the Sound Mind, Sound Body Camp and as his junior season gets closer, he will only earn more offers.

So if I were you, I would look out for Onwenu, because I can guarantee you that he will only earn more offers as he continues the next two years of his high school career.

EMU Eagles extend an offer to Wyandotte Roosevelt 2016 wide receiver Donnie Corley

Over the last few months, rising star wide receiver Donnie Corley has really come into his own and colleges have already begun taking notice. Going into Sunday, he held offers from Ohio, Cincinnati, Illinois, Iowa and by Sunday evening, Corley earned another offer this time from the Eastern Michigan Eagles.

Although it’s not a surprise to see Corley earn an offer from Eastern Michigan, it’s still great to see him earned another well deserved offer.

At 6-foot-2 and 180 pounds, Corley may be lean and still have some things to work on, but there is no doubt that he has the great hands and overall athleticism to make any corner-back look silly in one-on-one coverage. If you think I’m exaggerating, just take a look at National Recruiting Analyst Allen Trieu scouting report on Corley.

“Long armed kid with good height. Still has to keep filling out and getting stronger. Excellent ball skills and ability to go up and high point the football. Very reliable, sure-handed and has the athleticism and body control to adjust to passes in the air. Smooth in and out of his breaks and creates good separation. Can still get faster and improve on his open field ability after the catch.” – Allen Trieu

Overall, I expect Corley to only gain more offers from here. In fact, according to Trieu, Corley made the most of his recent opportunity in Tuscaloosa last weekend, even hinting that an offer could be close.

Alabama had two of Michigan’s best at their camp last weekend, rising sophomore linebacker Josh Ross (6-2, 205) and rising junior receiver Donnie Corley (6-2, 175), both of whom have already reeled in major offers.

    The Tide may soon follow.

“They [Alabama] said I was one of their top guys,” Corley said to Trieu on Scout.com.

He added that he also believes an offer could be near.

Regardless of whether he earns an offer from Alabama, there is no doubt in my mind that Corley will gain more offers, it’s just matter of who and when, his next offer will come.
