The attorney for Charles and Monique Bothuell told Fox 2 on Sunday, “We hear there’s a likelihood criminal charges will be brought, we’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop.”
Defense attorney Mark Magidson is gearing up to defend the couple against looming criminal charges for child abuse, neglect and filing a false police report. 12 year old Charlie Bothuell told investigators his stepmother, Monique, ordered him to the basement area of their condo and told him not to come up — claims she and her husband deny.
Magidson says the couple is back home cleaning up the mess investigators left behind after a search. Monique was released from jail Saturday on a GPS tether. She and her husband are still able to have contact with their other two children but their lawyer says they have not seen Charlie since he first disappeared two weeks ago.
Charlie has been staying with his biological mother and grandmother. They were advised not to talk about the case until Charles and Monique are formally charged.
