Authorities searched an abandoned house near Grove and Strathmoor streets Monday evening. They also went door to door to speak with neighbors.

Police have been searching for the kids since their mother, Alicia Fox, was found dead in an abandoned house on Penrod Street on Detroit’s west side. Her body was badly decomposed.

Police believe her husband 28-year-old Erin Justice, father to her youngest child, killed Fox in late May and then asked his childhood friend, Timothy Jones, to help cover up the crime. Jones was arraigned in 36th District Court facing a felony charge of accessory after the fact, but Justice has yet to make a local court appearance. He fled to Georgia and is fighting extradition back to Detroit. He’s charged with several felonies including first-degree murder.

His next court appearance is scheduled for June 25th. Meanwhile, police in Detroit keep searching.

A family member says volunteers are invited to help search for the children Thursday, June 17. The search group will meet at 10 a.m. at Joy Road and Trinity Street where they will search grids three and four of Rouge Park.

Volunteers are asked to wear pink and white or pink and black.
