    So you having a holiday party huh? Well since I may crash it (wink wink) the least I can do is help you plan it!  Add these light, quick and easy recipes to your spread and look forward to lots of “thank you” kisses under the mistletoe.

    The Candy Girl

    Candy canes will never go out of style when it comes to holiday treats. This year give this hooked shaped treats another place to hang from besides your Christmas tree. I’m thinking a martini glass perhaps?

    1 mini candy cane (for garnish)

    1 1/2 oz vodka

    3/4 oz peppermint schnapps

    1 oz light cranberry juice

    splash of soda water

    Grab your shaker. Fill it up. Shake it up. Serve it up.

    Hot Spinach and Artichoke Dip

    Who doesn’t love this creamy dip?! Your party needs this light version for sure, cause ain’t no party like a chip dippin’ party…(you know the rest)

    Servings: 15 • Serving Size: 1/4 Cup • Calories: 60 • Fat: 4g

    13.75 oz artichoke hearts packed in water, drained

    10 oz frozen spinach, thawed and drained

    1/4 cup chopped shallots

    1 clove garlic

    1/2 cup fat free Greek yogurt

    1/2 cup fat free sour cream

    2/3 cup parmesan/romano cheese

    4 oz shredded part skim mozzarella cheese

    salt and fresh pepper to taste

    Preheat oven to 375°.

    In a small food processor, coarsely chop the artichoke hearts with the garlic and shallots.

    Combine all the ingredients in a medium bowl.

    Place in an oven-proof dish and bake at for  20-25 minutes, until hot and cheese is melted. Serve right away.

    Santa’s Favorite Cookie

    He’s on that “get right and tight weight loss plan” too. Who knew?! So leave these cookies out and score more gifts under the tree. P.S. Don’t forget the milk…he needs that calcium boost to finish his rounds!

    Servings: 20 • Serving Size: 1 cookie • Calories: 100 • Fat: 7g

    1/2 cup whole wheat flour

    1/4 cup rolled oats

    1/4 tsp baking soda

    1/8 tsp cinnamon

    6 tbsp unsalted butter, softened

    6 tbsp brown sugar

    2 tbsp granulated sugar

    1 egg

    1 tsp vanilla extract

    1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

    1/4 cup chopped pecans

    Heat oven to 375. In a bowl combine flour, oats, baking soda and cinnamon.

    In another bowl, cream butter and sugars until fluffy. 3-5 minutes. Add egg and vanilla; beat until smooth.

    Combine both mixtures. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans. Drop onto ungreased cookie sheets. 1tbsp each and 2 inches apart.

    Bake until golden brown. 9 minutes. Let cool.
