Miguel Cabrera has been named the American League Player of the Month for August.
The Tigers third baseman hit .356 with 11 home runs and 31 RBI. Cabrera played in 27 games, while battling an abdominal injury, among other ailments.
His 11 home runs were the most by any Tigers player in August since Al Kaline hit 12 in 1957.
Cabrera was first in the AL in August with a .733 slugging percentage, 74 total bases, and was tied for first in homers and RBI.
After a Triple Crown season last year, Cabrera is leading the AL in batting average (.355), RBI (130), and is second in home runs with 43.
