Senate Pennsylvania Specter

PHILADELPHIA– Accompanied by Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and Philadelphia Mayor Nutter, Senator Arlen Specter received the endorsement of Philadelphia Black Clergy leaders Friday morning for his re-election bid in the Democratic primary next week.

In accepting the endorsement Specter said, “I’m very grateful for the overwhelming support from the Black Clergy,” and said the Philadelphia black vote was his key to winning the primary next Tuesday.  “There is no doubt if we turn out our vote, I will be re-elected,” said Specter.

Bishop Audrey Bronson, President of the Philadelphia Black Clergy, told the several dozen black community leaders gathered for the news conference that, “We cannot afford to lose Senator Specter.” She reaffirmed the importance of the primary and urged voters to turn out on Tuesday.
