Hugh Douglas, the former Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro defensive end, has parted ways with ESPN, one week after allegations of a verbal altercation with his Numbers Never Lie co-host Michael Smith were made public.

ESPN spokesman Mike Soltys confirmed that Douglas no longer works for the network.

Early last week, the network confirmed that Douglas and Smith had a “disagreement” the previous Friday.

The Big Lead reported the colleagues were at a National Association of Black Journalists conference in Orlando and had a “heated verbal altercation” that included Douglas making threats and using slurs to talk about Smith.

Douglas didn’t make any appearances on ESPN following the disagreement.

“I am very disappointed to be leaving ESPN and will have more to say about this situation and my future at the appropriate time,” Douglas wrote in a tweet on Tuesday.

The 41-year-old joined ESPN in 2011, seven years after finishing his NFL career. He made two all-pro teams in his five seasons with the Eagles.HUGH
