    There are plenty of fun things to do in and around Metro Detroit this weekend. This list will try to highlight some of the events – big and small – for kids and families.

    Detroit AutoRama, March 8-10, 2013 (friday-sunday) at Cobo Center in Downtown Detroit. Annual vehicle show featuring,  “America’s Finest Hot Rods, Customs, Trucks and Motorcycles”. includes Drag City USA featuring Vintage Race Cars, Motorcity Mavens 2012 Auto Art Panel Jam & Charity Auction, Autorama Pinup Girl Contest, live entertainment, celebrity appearances by Edge and Sheamus (WWE).     Many Royal Oak favorites are participating and offering deep discounts to some of the finest restaurants and bars in Michigan. Each participating restaurant will be offering three-course menu selections at a discounted rate of either $15, $25 or $35 (depending on the restaurant.     Lowe’s Free Build and Grow Clinic for Kids. From project basics to giving your child the opportunity to say, “I built it!”, the Lowe’s Build and Grow kid’s clinics are a great way to help build confidence! Bring the kids into any Lowe’s store and build a FREE wooden project. Each participant also receives a free apron, goggles, a project themed patch, and a certification of merit upon completion of their project.     Free Preschool Kidsight Vision Screening
    Independence Township Library (6495 Clarkston Road, Clarkston, MI 48346)
    Free monthly vision screening for children ages 6 months to 5 years. Photos are taken of the child’s eyes to check for potential vision problems.     Wild Winter Arctic Adventure – Saturday, March 9th and Sunday, March 10th  from 11a-3p
    Detroit Zoo (8450 West 10 Mile Road, Royal Oak, MI 48067)
    Beat the winter blues this season during Wild Winter Weekends at the Detroit Zoo. Wild Winter is a unique, fun way to experience the magic of the Zoo in winter. Enjoy your favorite habitats indoors and out along with special activities, including children’s music, zookeeper talks, crafts and much more. Wild Winter Arctic Adventure features ice carving demonstrations, arctic-themed arts and crafts, games and entertainment. All activities are free with Zoo admission and take place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Ford Education Center.
