From KissRichmond – Singer Mariah Carey has been one of the many celebrities grieving over the death of Whitney Houston.

Carey and Houston were huge chart rivals in the 90s, both recognized for their incredible vocal ranges and diva aesthetic, selling millions in the process. It was widely believed that their rivalry turned personal; however they were able to put those rumors to rest in 1998 with the collaboration of “When You Believe”, which took the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 1999 after it was featured in the film ‘The Prince Of Egypt, and Whitney and Mariah became friends thereafter.

Now Carey has reacted to the death of Whitney Houston by posting a video montage on YouTube featuring moments of them performing together at notable events including the 1999 Oscars, as well as pictures from recording and other moments of them together. The soundtrack for the 2-minute video is, of course, “When You Believe.”

Recently on “Good Morning America,” Mariah Carey stated she felt “almost incapable” of describing how she felt about Whitney’s death, going on to discuss their friendship. “I don’t think people could ever understand our relationship,” she said, adding “There was always this supposed rivalry in the beginning and then we did the duet and became friends. I saw her towards the end. I loved her. It’s very heavy emotionally.”
