DPD Host Free Community & Family Day At Belle Isle Today!

WHAT: The Detroit Police Department’s Tactical Support unit will host its 1st Annual Family and Community Day.    The community is invited to come out on the city’s jewel and enjoy refreshments while meeting some of Detroit’s Finest, as they experience hands-on learning opportunities, activities and demonstrations.

WHY: The Family and Community Day focus will be on building relations and increasing unity amongst police and residents to aid in the reduction of crime within our neighborhoods.

WHEN: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2011.

WHERE: Belle Isle Casino, located on the Historic Belle Isle at Casinoway & Central.

VISUALS: Detroit Police Bomb Squad’s robot; Traffic Enforcement will conduct Harley Davison Demonstrations; K-9 will conduct a track; Harbor Master will provide “FREE” boat rides; Gang Enforcement is having a 3 on 3 basketball tournament; Detroit Police vs. Detroit Fire in tug-of-war; and three legged races.  The Detroit Fire Department will also have a display available.
