Delta Air Lines is facing intense criticism after it charged nearly $3000 in extra baggage fees to a group of 34 U.S. soldiers returning home from Afghanistan.

In a video released Tuesday, Army Staff Sgt. Robert O’Hair is recorded talking about the incident in which each soldier was charged $200 for having a fourth bag, in spite of an agreement between the United States government and Delta that authorized them to do so.

The total bill for the excess luggage came out to a whopping $2,800, which the soldiers were required to pay out of their own pockets.

The military has said they will reimburse the soldiers for the fees, and Delta changed its baggage policy for the armed forces, allowing soldiers to have up to five bags at no additional cost.
